WOD:

Joey P. going for a 56 inch jump. He nailed 52 inches. Welcome back Joe!
“Do Unto Thy Neighbor”
In the spirit of caring for our neighbors, this is a team WOD. As a team of two:
Run 1600 meters
Row 2000 meters
100 Wall Ball (20 lbs / 14/ lbs) to a 10 foot target (no 10 foot, no rep)
100 Pullups (Chin over bar)
100 Situps
100 Burpees
100 Air Squats
Here’s the rub: Both athletes can be working at the same time. The above numbers are COMBINED effort.
Example A: Randy and JJ are partners (not that there’s anything wrong with that). They agree that Randy, fresh off his triumphant one mile mad dash for glory, is the better candidate to run the entire mile, while JJ grinds away at the wall balls that are well known to be Randy’s nemesis. So be it. Randy finishes the mile in 5:45 (a PR) and JJ is on rep 80 of wall balls. Randy immediately starts grinding on burpees. While he’s doing that, JJ wraps up wall balls and decides he loves burpees so much (who doesn’t?) that he’s going to join in the fun. Randy has already done 20 burpees, and over the next few minutes, JJ does 35 burpees to Randy’s 45. Randy then moves to pullups, while JJ starts ripping out situps. 25 in, they swap positions, and continue to do so until 100 of each is done. Then, they each grab the rower and pull mightily toward the finish, shouting distance covered to one another until as a unit, they complete 2000 meters. Seeing the end in site, they join hands and do 50 squats in perfect rhythm and synchronization, and are done with the WOD.
Example 2: Billie and Cathy are partners. They both hate running (given), and decide to intersperse 200 meter sprints into their WOD rather than do the endurance thing. Eight of them. So they go 200 meter sprint, Billie does 20 wall balls, Cathy does 20 pullups, repeat times five. Three sprints to go. They knock the squats out together, perform a sprint together (two sprints to go). Billie rows a 1k while Cathy bangs out 50 burpees; they sprint 200 meters. Billie rows the next 1k while Cathy does 50 sitps. They both do a sprint. They both do 25 burpees. Sprint, and 25 situps each. Done with WOD.
The point here is, you can break it out any way you want. One athlete can do more or less work; it doesn’t matter. It’s all about doing this one as a team, and managing the WOD to maximize your team’s midget potential.
News / Rants / Raves
First and foremost, we had a discussion with the Zoning Enforcement Officer for the Town of Colchester today. Long story short, he is in agreement with us that running is permitted in the driveway and the road. We discussed our stance that noisemaking activities such as lifting weights and tire flipping would be kept on the side of the electrical junction box closest to the house. The one thing that came up from him was that we be police ourselves about parking on the street. To this end, if any of you see another athlete parking on the road, please remind them that we need to have all parking done on our property. And while this is indeed good news for CrossFit Playground, it is by no means a license to change our behavior toward the neighbors. Please continue to treat them only with kindness and smiles, and do not antagonize them in any way. Our victory is not over them, it is over time, gravity, and ourselves. Feel free to invite them to join us, though… They could use it.
