    The Big Diet Challenge Rules Posting:

    The buy-in is $25.  Cash Only.  All money collected for this Challenge will be paid out to participants.

    All of The Playground Coaches are your judges for this Challenge.  Coaches are not eligible to participate in this Challenge (don’t worry; we’ve got one of our own going on).

    At the end of the challenge, each Coach will rank each participating athlete from 1 to N in each of the below listed categories, with N being a positive, non-zero number that coincides with the exact number of participants.  We’ve got 11 Coaches; we’ll leave the math on the permutations and combinations of scoring possibilities to you.  But to put it simply: low score wins.

    There will be three categories of judgment:

    Measurements – You will be measured twice: once at the start (somewhere between January 1 and January 3, 2011), and once at the end (somewhere between March 13 and March 16, 2011).  We will be measuring the following: neck, chest at thickest point, waist at bellybutton, waist where guys wear their pants, and hips.

    Appearance – We’ll be taking pictures of you twice, and oddly enough the photo dates coincide quite nicely with the above measurement dates.  3 Poses: facing front; facing side; and facing away from the camera.

    Performance – The Coaches will be watching you and making notes on your performance.

    There will be six winners:

    Overall Winner – 50 percent of the pot.

    Second Overall – 25 percent of the pot.

    Third Overall – 10 percent of the pot.

    Additionally, there will be 3 Category winners.  The Overall Winner, Second, and Third place finishers overall are not eligible for the Category wins.  Each Category winner gets 5 percent of the pot.

    That’s about it.  If you’re buying in, get your cash to a Coach ASAP.  We’ll see you starting Saturday for 75 days of Glory!

    Diet Challenge – We’re finalizing the rules, making mad plan, and getting the entire infrastructure set for the big challenge.  We will have the rules posted and buy in available no later than the Wednesday night posting for Thursday’s workouts.  If you have any questions, ask any of your friendly neighborhood Coaches.

    Jump Ropes - Lots of people signed up to buy them; few people have paid.  30 bucks a rope, we’re ordering on Friday for a mid-next-week delivery.  Get your cash into us before then; give it to any Coach.

    Royal Blue Thursdays – Thursdays are Royal Blue Thursdays at The Playground.  Wear a Royal Blue shirt or risk public ridicule, a warmup made by those cool enough to remember, and quite possibly a trip through the spanking machine.

    WOD:

    “The Twelve Pains of Christmas”

    It’s a bit much to write out, but see the video below to get the idea.  Bear in mind that 2 wall balls was a little lame in the 2009 version, so we’ve upped the ante a bit with some squat cleans instead.  Other than that, the video below will tell you what’s up.

    So that you’re aware, singing is MANDATORY on the verse for the number five ( FIVE BUUUUURRRRPEEEES!) and the verse for number 1 (AND A DEADLIFT AT THREE FIFTEEN!).

    Tabata Deadlift – record total reps and Tabata to the board.

    Rest 10 minutes

    1 pullup the first minute; 2 pullups the second minute, 3 pullups the 3rd minute, etc.  Continue as long as you are able; post highest round completed AND reps in failed round to the board.

    Thrusters 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps; taking the weight from a rack IS acceptable.

    followed by 300 Double Unders for time

    If the athlete does not have doubles, the appropriate sub is 3,000 singles for time.
