    Thanks to Games WOD 1, everyone realizes that Double Unders are indeed not optional. Here's another one that absolutely will come up from time to time and can be a dealbreaker: Pistols. Check out Coach JJ showing us all the right form in this picture from the Garage Days...

    WOD:

    HEAVY THRUSTERS

    1-1-1-1-1-1-1 reps

    Take the weight from a rack, down and up for one.  Go for a PR!

    If you have not progressed your squat to the point where thrusters with significant weight are possible for you, your Coach will work with you on the progressions for thrusters.

    Great job by all on yesterday’s gas-fest of hang power cleans and burpees.  That was one tough WOD, and everyone brought great intensity.

    GAMES SCHEDULING

    We’re waiting to see what WOD 2 is before we announce the schedule for WOD 2.  The WOD will be announced on Tuesday (tommorrow) at 8 PM Eastern Time.

    Will Malz and Randy are attending a Strongman Seminar on Saturday; be aware that we may need to make the official effort on Sunday morning.

    Games Update:

    After all the rigamarole around the Games WOD 1, including many and frequent issues with the Games website and some down-to-the-wire technical wizardry to get Coach JJ’s score in under the wire (by 34 seconds, mind you), round 1 of the 2011 CrossFit Games Open Qualifier is now complete.  Congratulations to all of you who completed the WOD; that was a gassy little number that kicked the crap out of everyone.

    GOOD NEWS

    CrossFit Playground is Number 30 in the Northeast Region.  Top 30 Teams go to the Regionals.  Given that this WOD wasn’t exactly in our wheelhouse as a gym, we’re looking to outperform these results in the coming WODs.

    Our official top six (3 men, 3 women)were:

    2) Will Malz – 270

    3) Randy Spellman – 265

    4) Matt Demar – 260

    5) Amanda Modeen – 243

    6) Lynn LeBlanc – 219

    Extra special shout to Lynn LeBlanc: she is currently 84th IN THE WORLD for Master’s Women Division.

    Also a shout out to Coach Cindy, who’s sitting at 49th in the Northeast Region.

    Games WOD 2 Comes out on Tuesday Night at 8 PM our time.

    Training Update:

    OK, so we all got a little bit nuts about Games WOD 1.  Some of us did it 3 times.  All of us over thought it, and made it more than it needed to be.  So here’s the deal: don’t get off your game just because it’s Games season, DO NOT let it impact your training.  You NEED to keep CrossFitting.  We spend a lot of time programming our WODs to include a fair mixture of strength, endurance, and MetCons – if you keep working the WODs as programmed and work your Goats in the interim, you’re going to be just fine for the rest of the Games Season.

    The time spent at each station will be predicated based on the combined time it takes the team members to complete their runs.
