<p><strong>The CrossFit Games &#8211; Open Season</strong></p>
<p>The qualifiers for the 2012 CrossFit Games start tomorrow, and CrossFit Playground has “opted in” to host / participate.  We’d like you guys to join us.</p>
<p>It doesn’t matter if you think you can qualify or not – what we’re going to use the qualifier for is to give people a little taste of what the Games are all about.  If you register as an athlete, you’ll be able to see how you stack up in the region and nationally.  There are a LOT of people who are going to be competing in the qualifier who have no realistic chance of going to the Games, but the majority of the fun is just seeing if you can and how well you do in these workouts.</p>
<p>One thing to be aware of: you will be held to standards on these workouts – a Coach or a Playground-approved athlete will be judging every movement you make.</p>
<p>The cost to join in is 20 dollars, and that&#8217;s for all six WODs.</p>
<p>You need to go to <a href="http://games.crossfit.com/">The CrossFit Games site</a> to register.  Once you&#8217;ve signed up and paid, you&#8217;ll need to select your affiliate.  You&#8217;ll see a list of every CrossFit Affiliate in the NorthEast in your list &#8211; we&#8217;re listed (oddly enough) as &#8220;CrossFit Playground.&#8221;  Pick us as your affiliate, and we&#8217;ll add you to the team.</p>
<p>Speaking of teams, here&#8217;s the way it works for the team competition: the scores from the top three women and the top three men  who are on the team count for any given workout.  Anyone can be a contributor. The top 30 teams in the region will advance to the Regional round.</p>
<p>Doing the games is a good time, and a great way to build community.  You can hit some WODs with a bunch of people you don&#8217;t normally get to work out with, and cheer everyone on.  Randy will be providing entertainment with his quick-change magic act, and JJ will also be offering his foundational class on cheese making (week one&#8217;s focus will be &#8220;Curds: The Secret to a Great Poutine.&#8221;  Sign up and be part of the fun!</p>

<p>We are fielding one team &#8211; Team CrossFit Playground.  When you sign up, select CrossFit Playground as your Affiliate, and we will add you to the team.</p>
<p>We are going to have multiple pre-set times for the Games WODs to be attempted, which we will work through with the Coaches.  During these times, there will be no &#8220;regular&#8221; WODs; the gym will be dedicated to the Games WOD.  We&#8217;ll try to have a couple of them a week so that everyone gets a shot to get their WOD in.</p>
