So you’ve done a free intro and you realized that CrossFit is just the thing you need. Or you saw The CrossFit Games on ESPN and said to yourself “you know, I’d really like to be able to walk 75 meters on my hands and do multiple rope ascents intermingled with some heavy clean and jerks (because, hey, who doesn’t say that when watching The Games).” Or maybe you’ve just decided that you’re going to start. Whatever your reason, if you’re looking to get going at CrossFit Playground, this is the page for you!
Why On Ramp?
There are a lot of reasons that we require the On Ramp be completed by new athletes. We use it as a method to determine your overall fitness, and to make note of any issues / areas of work that need to be watched when you join the main group.
We also use it as an opportunity to get you versed in the CrossFit vernacular. If you don’t know what WOD, AMRAP, thruster, burpee, squat cleans, box jump, and kipping are, you will once you are done with the On Ramp.
Finally, the main reason that we have you go through the On Ramp is so that we can teach you how to do the foundational CrossFit movements safely and effectively. Our number one goal is to keep you progressing as an athlete, and no one will progress as an athlete if they are injured.
How long does the On Ramp last?
The On Ramp is nine sessions over a three week period. Each session will last approximately one hour, although some sessions may go longer depending on the dynamics and progress of the On Ramp group.

Hold on there, cowboy / cowgirl! It ain’t easy coordinating gym schedules with On Ramp schedules with Coaches schedules and bearing in mind the relevant lunar eclipse schedules, but we do the best we can at it. We kick off one on Ramp per month – generally on the first Monday of a calendar month. On Ramps generally run on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, and on Sundays from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
